No New Posts SHIBUYA CROSSING

Constantly busy, filled with the sounds of people and cars during the day and blindingly neon at night. Shibuya Crossing is the biggest, most popular, and most used of the pedestrian crossings in Tokyo. People come from all over the world just to see it! Make sure to walk quickly though, the lights don’t last long and cars rarely wait, there are lots of close calls. For those who are interested, they can find a statue of a dog outside the Shibuya station, that’s Hachiko waiting faithfully for his master.

No New Posts SHIBUYA 109

Shibuya 109 is reachable from Shibuya Station and Crossing. The building is the heart of the Crossing and offers a large screen on the front of the building showing ads from all the shops inside (as well as from shops not featured at the popular department store). The building itself is designed in a loop on each floor from the elevator past the shops and then back to the elevator again to go to the next floor. 109 is a mecca for young teenage girls of the gyaru subculture.

This mew teashop is just purrfect! "Ocha nomu~nya?" is the first thing anyone hears upon walking into this modern tea house. The building itself is set under a tall office building and inside is a stark white room with colorful carpeting, cat trees everywhere, a kitchen in the back, and of course lots of places for people and cats alike to relax and enjoy each other's company. Cat cafés are becoming very popular, and Nekocha is one of the most famous!

No New Posts HARAJUKU

Synonymous with Takeshita Dori, Harajuku (often also referenced as a style of dress) is a street where cosplayers and otaku gather on Sundays to show off their costumes and crazy fashions. Many photographers and anime/manga enthusiasts come to take pictures of the cosplayers. The streets itself is lined with any number of boutiques, fast food places, kiosks, and other shopping for teenagers and adults alike. There are occasionally festivals hosted here, which make the street even busier than it usually is.

No New Posts YOYOGI PARK

Yoyogi Park borders the Meiji Shrine and Harajuku. It is the famous site where the first successful powered aircraft flight in Japan took place and later became an army parade ground (as well as housed military barracks for U.S. soldiers during the Allied occupation of Japan). The park is a popular location, especially on Sundays when it is used as a gathering for Japanese rock music fans. In spring the park is known for its cherry blossom during hanami. There are lots of picnic areas and bike paths.
